We write. Lets talk about it.

A small girl learned the ABC's and realized those letters can form together into communicable words. She devoured book after book - beginning with Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein, gliding into The Babysitters Club, The Giver, Walk two Moons and on and on while she discovered the vastness of novels, memoirs and biographies.

When life gave her lemons, she made fantasies. Every life occurrence became a chapter in her mind. Other worlds were only a pen and paper away.
In diary after diary she wrote her minds' whims and secrets. She created a world full of imagination and dreams.

Today, she writes in similar, but different, diaries. When called to be a writer, one can't look away.

What makes you a writer? Why do you want to write? What inspires you?

About a year ago, I decided to start a local writing group. We met weekly for a few months before life happened and it crumbled apart.
On a walk with my friend and coworker Kim Burgess, the idea was reignited.

The goal: pursue writing in a safe environment with those who also love to create ideas and express feelings through the written word.

We will pursue various writing styles, whilst constructively critiquing each others work.

Meetings will be every other Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Beehive Grill (an hour before Trivia.) I will create Facebook events as reminders.

For our meeting today, I would love if you could come with an explanation of how and why you became a writer. Tell us what your goals are.

There will be assignments- thinking, reading and writing- that will improve and expand participants writing.

The continuous end goal: A literary magazine. Poetry, short stories, song lyrics and more.

Pursue this goal with me.
